Welcome to NAfro Dance Productions
Dance is an eternal human method of communication, and the Art of Dance has been evolving since humans first named it. As our societies and cultures change, so has our dance, and modern choreographers use a fusion of dance styles and techniques to express what cannot be stated in words.
As peoples move together, rub cultural elbows and interact in ways that would never have happened even a dozen years ago, new ways of communicating rise up. NAfro Dance Productions is an expression of that positive evolution. NAfro Dance is bringing a style of dance to Canada and Winnipeg that is well-known in the rest of the world, but still young here in Winnipeg. Our aim is to allow the full flowering of both African and African-Canadian choreographers by giving them a place to explore and realize their thoughts and goals, and to have a great time along the way. We dance because we can. We dance to express love and sadness, desire and joy, politics and spirit. The richness of African culture and the choreographer's instinct to create mingle beautifully and allows that beauty to flow out into the world. NAfro Dance aims to contribute to, develop and expose this dance style in Winnipeg and the rest of Canada.
NAfro Dance is a registered charity. A receipt will be issue for all donations.
